Just a note on question three, which I voted in favor of. Over the weekend I was approached by a woman on the street in Northampton who was a greyhound owner and vehemently against question three. She claimed that "greyhounds love to run, and the owners of racing dogs love them and take great care of them." Additionally, she claimed that thousands of greyhounds would be euthanized as a result of question three passing. I have no first hand experience with any racing dog owners, but can only react to footage I have seen which does not paint a pretty picture of life for these animals.
I do agree that the owners of active racing greyhounds "who love their dogs as any pet owner would" ( her words), will choose to unload these dogs once racing is banned. I encourage folks looking for a new dog to consider adopting one of the many greyhounds who will be looking for a job if question three passes. While greyhounds are not always to be trusted around cats and other small animals, those we have boarded here at Bed and Bowl have shown themselves to be gentle and loving companion animals.
